2022 Certified Pool Operator Courses

Dear Environmental Health Specialists,

With the Summer pool season quickly approaching, I’m pleased to announce that both an in-person CPO course will be offered this May, as well as a virtual class in April. The Environmental Public Health Division (IDOH), in cooperation with the Indiana Environmental Health Association (IEHA), will be offering these CPO® training opportunities for local health department staff (only). There will even be a third, abbreviated “CPO recertification” option late May for anyone currently CPO certified who would like to only take the more basic Pool and Hot Tub Alliance Primer Course.

This year the courses will be instructed once again by Steve Yeary, REHS, CPOI® of IDOH and Jason Ravenscroft, MPH, REHS, CHES, CPOI® of the Marion County Health Department. Topics covered will include pool water chemistry, water balance, essential calculations, filtration, disinfection, chemical feed and control, chemical testing, safety, maintenance, troubleshooting, spas and therapy pools, and Indiana’s regulatory requirements.  As part of the course, each participant will receive in advance a PHTA training manual to study in preparation, and to keep for reference. Attached are detailed course outline’s for both options.
