The Emergency Response (ER) program is seeking a skilled environmental professional to fill an On-scene Coordinator (OSC) position.  An OSC is required to work an on-call rotation shared amongst 7-10 OSCs to maintain 24-hour response capabilities within the ER program.  The OSC provides technical and administrative oversight to a wide variety of environmental emergencies throughout the State to ensure protection of human health, environment, and property.  The OSC coordinates with responsible parties, spill contractors, fire departments, county emergency managers, INDNR, INDOT, USEPA, and others to facilitate containment and recovery of spilled contaminants.

The OSC participates in emergency planning activities which may include but are not limited to developing multi-agency plans and procedures with the USEPA, US Coast Guard, INDOT, State Police, Indiana Department of Homeland Security and county health departments.

The OSC must have the ability work independently, manage a diverse and dynamic workload, work in varied and at times adverse field conditions, have strong written and oral communications skills, and have a sound comprehension of environmental regulations and field practices.  In addition to the field response component, there is a significant administrative component requiring project management skills, data interpretation, and proficiency with Microsoft office suite and use of Tempo database
