Certified Pool Operator Course

Description: The Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification program is the world’s leading educational program for safely operating pools, spas, and other aquatic venues. This in-person CPO course provides two days of classroom instruction on proper pool operation, followed by a challenging 50 question exam. This course has been tailor-fit for environmental health specialists performing pool inspections and is only open to state/local health department personnel. The Indiana rules and regulations for public/semi-public pools, spas, and other aquatic venues will be given special attention. Aquatic Venue Public Health Inspector Course

Dates: April 9th, 2026

Description: The AVPHI Course, developed by CMAHC, provides public health inspectors with a comprehensive, in-person training experience based on the CDC Model Aquatic Health Code (MAHC)—the national standard for public health and safety for swimming pools. This instructor-led course ensures you have the expertise to assess aquatic venues accurately, identify risks, and uphold the highest health and safety standards.


Certified Pool Operator Recertification

Dates: April 21st, 2026 

Location: Virtual

Registration: Online only

Cost: $200

Description: The recertification option is only for Indiana health officials with a valid CPO certification that will remain valid thru any date in April 2026. Understand that this “CPO recertification” option does not include class time instruction (neither in person nor virtual). Participants must work thru a video course called the PHTA “Pool Operator Primer” at their own pace. They must complete the course and provide proof of completion before the test date. The test will be proctored virtually, and will cost $200 to cover all expenses.
